We are proud to report that almost 50% of families who attend Tiny Robins Day Nursery are either from different ethnic backgrounds or mixed ethnic backgrounds.
We currently care for children from the following ethnic groups, British Black British, Black African, Black multiracial, Portuguese, Syrian, Albanian, Danish, Pakistani, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Malayan, Dutch and Finnish.
We also support children and staff from many different faiths and religions.
We welcome all children and provide one to one care for children with additional needs.
We believe that to ensure we continually improve our provision, and to support our families fully, that we need to seek their opinions and feedback. We always ask for parental suggestions in our monthly Newsletter and on our Parents board. This is an analysis of our written questionnaire, we use this and the other feedback to ensure we continue to develop and change to meet our childrens’ and families needs.
This year we were happy that 33% of parents filled out our feedback form. The current pandemic may have resulted in a lower than expected feedback rate. We recognise that not all parents feel happy providing written feedback, so Liz (the Manager) seeks feedback from parents verbally, this includes parents for whom English is not their first language and those who may not be literate in English.
Analysis identifies that 100% of parents are happy with the quality of care and support offered to them by our service.
100% strongly agree or agree that their child is happy to attend nursery and that the children enjoy the activities and experiences we provide.
100% strongly agree or agree that our indoor and outdoor environment is well equipped clean and safe.
100% strongly agree or agree that they receive regular communication about events, activities and their child’s individual development.
100% strongly agree or agree that they are confident that the staff will protect their child and staff are both approachable and make time to listen to worries and concerns.
100% of parents agree or strongly agree that the nursery well led. That the Manager treats them as a partner in their child’s education and that they are able to speak openly and honestly about any concerns they wish to raise.
We are always happy to receive such positive feedback from our parents but also recognise that sometimes we do not get things 100% correct, some suggestions have been made which would improve our provision further. This feedback is always welcomed and carefully considered to identify which would be the best way to meet these suggestions and requests.
One parent identified in 2019 that she would like more photos of her child, as both parents enjoyed this at home. In her feedback in 2020 she identified that she “loved baby days” our new electronic based parental communication and information portal. This is new this year and addresses this parents, and other parents requests relating to information and photographic records of thier childs’ day.
Another parent who returned a feedback form in 2019 identified that she agreed with most statements; but was unable to fill in some of the form, as her child had not attended nursery for long. She gave very positive feedback in 2020 – she strongly agreed with nearly 100% of statements; with others she agreed. She disagreed with one statement about being aware of our child protection policy. We immediately responded highlighting that this is always available at nursery and on the nursery website and we are happy to both explain and discuss this with her. In her feedback she raised a concern about staff communicating about staff changes, again we responded to her concern and have a plan to improve this by sharing this information not only in the newsletter but also on the parent notice board.
Her written comments included:-
“The new baby days app is great! Very handy to get all the information electronically and both parents can easily access it. We’re very happy with the nursery and especially the past challenging months, you have been an invaluable support for **** and us all. I’m not sure how we would have managed without your flexibility, help and support. Thank you for everything you do every single day!”
